Avoid including irrelevant details or introducing unsupported claims.
A strong answer uses only note-based claims and leaves out anything extra.
核心知识
The correct answer stays within the notes. If an answer includes a fact not found in the notes — no matter how reasonable it sounds — it's wrong. If it includes a note that doesn't serve the goal, it's also wrong.
深入理解
This concept is the flip side of selecting relevant information. Instead of asking "what should I include?" it asks "what should I leave out?"
Two types of problems to watch for:
Unsupported claims: The answer states something that isn't in the notes. It might sound true — it might even be true — but if the notes don't say it, the answer has introduced outside information.
Irrelevant details: The answer includes a real note, but that note doesn't help accomplish the goal. Including extra notes doesn't make an answer stronger — it makes it unfocused.
Train yourself to check every claim in an answer against the notes. If you can't point to the specific note it came from, that's a red flag.
分步讲解
- Check each claim against the notes.
- Reject any claim that is not stated in the notes.
- Reject any real note that does not help the goal.
常见误解
- Adding facts that are not in the notes.
- Assuming a reasonable-sounding detail is okay even if the notes never mention it.
- Including extra details that do not help accomplish the prompt.
示例解析
A student is writing about the Dead Sea and has taken these notes:
- The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordered by Jordan, Israel, and the West Bank.
- Its surface is approximately 430 meters below sea level, making it the lowest point on Earth's land surface.
- The Dead Sea's salinity is about 34%, roughly ten times saltier than the ocean.
- High salinity allows people to float effortlessly on its surface.
- The Dead Sea's water level has been dropping by about one meter per year due to diversion of the Jordan River.
The student wants to explain why people can float easily in the Dead Sea. Which choice most effectively uses relevant information from the notes to accomplish this goal?
